Physics is taught as a compulsory subject at our school in the first three years of the 4-year form of studies and in the first 7 years of the 8 – year form. Apart from compulsory studies the students have the opportunity to attend optional Physics seminars in the third and the fourth years.
We have suitable conditions for teaching Physics due to the complex of several special classrooms and a laboratory next to them, so we can carry out different experiments as well. The classrooms are equipped with modern video equipment. As a result of our good cooperation with Slovak national observatory in Hurbanovo we managed to recieve some interesting films dealing with the astronomical topics. A mini library with literature specialising in physics and mathematics is a part of the equipment as well.
Activities
Our students take part in different knowledge competitions, such as olympiads of local and regional levels and several correspondance seminars where they reached great achievements. In the recent years they have participated in a national astronomical competition “What you know about stars” with excellent results even at a national level.
It’s become a tradition that there are many events organised by our school in the honour of Mr Sulek. These include mainly seminars made by Mr. Dorotovič and Mr. Peter Dolinský from the Institute of Geophysics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Hurbanovo. One of them being a lecture on astrology, presented by Mr. Marián Vidovenec (astrologist, Slovak national observatory in Hurbanovo) took place at our school on 24th Október 2012. The lecture was aimed at our junior and senior students and offered them a new philosophical view on the subject.
